Golf Shop News – July 2008 SUMMER IS HERE! The sunshine has finally broken through and we are going to have beautiful weather from here on out. Looking for a new wardrobe? We have a wide variety and very competitive prices, a new Golf Club? Our prices will beat just about all of our competitors, so let us know if there is something we can you find. Thank you ACES! It took us a little longer than usual this year to record our first ace of the year, but are own Shaun Waggoner knocked it in on the 12th hole with a 7 – iron. Our second Ace was recorded by Neal Boswinkel on hole 17 with a 9 – iron. Great Shots! Gentlemen. It is the member’s responsibility to be on the tee at their assigned starting times. All guest fees and cart fees must be paid before beginning play. § Groups larger than 4 require approval from the Golf Shop. The Golf Shop may, at its discretion, allow groups larger than 4 if the demand for course play allows it and the groups maintain pace of play. Groups larger than 4 should allow smaller groups to play through. The Golf Shop will manage pace of play for all groups regardless of size. § Slow play will not be permitted. The Golf Shop is instructed to monitor the pace of play for all groups and to take steps to keep play moving. Groups failing to keep up the pace of play may be directed to step aside to allow faster groups to play through. Groups larger than 4 who fail to maintain pace of play may be required to break into smaller groups. All groups should endeavor to keep pace with the group ahead. TEE TIMES: Please call the Golf Shop to make your tee times. It greatly helps in managing our golf course operations (including staffing for both the pro shop and clubhouse) much more efficiently and effectively.
PROPER COURSE ATTIRE: Appropriate golf attire is required at all times on the course. Examples of proper attire include: golf shirts, sweaters, pull-over, golf shorts and slacks. Tank tops, logo t-shirts, fishnet shirts and cut-off are not permitted. The Pro Shop staff has the authority to deny members and/or guests golfing privileges who do not comply with the rules. Grounds Update NEW TEES: The recent warmer weather has really helped the grass grow on the new tees. We have over seeded the tees three times now. Once with rye grass, this germinates faster and will fill in the bare areas, and twice with bent grass. My target date to open the new tees is July 23rd. Watch your email for updates. BUNKER RAKES: There has been some discussion recently regarding where bunker rakes should be placed – inside or outside the bunker. From a golfers point of view I like to see them inside so they wouldn’t adversely affect where my ball ends up. From a maintenance point of view, I would rather have them inside because it saves the grounds crew time mowing around the bunkers. With all that being said, please place the bunker rakes inside the bunker after you use them. Wes Salo, Course Superintendent
